Contact have been organising and presenting screening events involving experimental film, video and other time-based art forms since 2013. It is run by Simon Payne and Andrew Vallance who first worked together on Assembly: A Survey of Recent Artists' Film and Video in Britain 2008-2013, a series of twenty screenings that they co-curated with Tate Britain and Tate Modern in 2013/14. In May 2016 they organised the Contact Festival of Experimental Film and Video, which comprised films, videos, installations, expanded cinema and performance pieces by over 70 artists. They have also programmed screening series at Apiary Studios, Cafe Oto, Close Up Cinema, Iklectik, New Art Projects and other arts venues in London. In 2020 they published the book Film Talks: Fifteen Conversations on Experimental Cinema which corresponded with several screening events and two film programmes that toured to North American venues. Full details, including programme notes are available under the New Events or Past Events pages, which are best accessed on the full desktop version of this website.
